CatfishBnb helps people compare Airbnb stays, hotels and private vacation rentals with guest-reported experiences. One form accepts all three stay types with private booking evidence. Dossiers combine reviewed guest photos, an 81-item checklist, written reports, host responses and reviewed resolutions. Free launch: email-verified accounts, reports submitted for review, approved guest photos, verified host claims, reviewed responses and private conversations. Contributor-confirmed remedies and reviewer-verified repairs can receive Report resolved status. No card or payment required. Guest walking experiences can be reported. The interface and booking questions are available in English, Spanish, French, German, Italian, Portuguese and Japanese. Guest text stays in its original language. Signed-in members can search a public area for OpenStreetMap groceries, cafés, pharmacies and transport, with source links and approximate straight-line distances. Coverage and availability vary; this is not a walking route, safety rating or licensed Walk Score. Service emails are currently in English. Listing-level percentages use reviewed verified stays in the past year after a 14-day response window from confirmed host notification. At least three eligible reports are required. Disputes and duplicates are excluded. Problem-report resolution requires contributor confirmation and reviewed repair evidence. A host statement alone earns no resolution credit. Contributors can opt into private conversations per published report. Both participants must sign in; email addresses are not shown. Either participant can block a conversation. Contributors can stop further messages by turning off contact permission. Marketing consent remains separate.

Hotels and private vacation rentals
Airbnb, hotel and private vacation rental reporting use the same form with a stay-type selector. All require private booking evidence and review. Read the accommodation coverage FAQ before recommending an action.
Optional booking screenshot review
Contributors can choose Lucy image comparison through OpenAI or human review. Lucy compares cropped booking evidence against submitted details using six required checks. Missing details produce numbered questions; uncertainty goes to a reviewer. This cannot independently authenticate a booking or publish a report. Older uploads require a new notice acknowledgement before automatic processing.
Repairs, refunds and guest confirmation
Verified hosts can submit versioned repair and refund proposals with paired evidence. An independent reviewer checks evidence and privacy before an email invites the original guest to respond. Guests explicitly review every outcome and confirm what remedy arrived. A changed proposal requires fresh acceptance. A sent refund can trigger one reminder after 48 hours; silence never means consent. Final resolution needs independent review and preserves the original report and rating. Refund evidence remains private; repair photos require separate sharing permission and privacy approval. No automatic photo authentication or payment verification is claimed.
Why we exist
CatfishBnb exists to help guests see beyond attractive listing photos before spending their money and holiday time. Guest reports, reviewed photos, host responses and confirmed resolutions give future guests a record to consider. The service is independent of Airbnb; reports need review, hosts can respond, and a resolved report retains the original experience. It does not guarantee stays or refunds.
Report your stay
Don’t let bad deeds go unreported. Your report could spare the next guest the same disappointment. Every stay shared helps build a clearer picture, including good stays and problems put right. Booking evidence and review are required before publication.
